credenza face lift and a little crowing around!!

So here she is...I used three chalk paint colors. Old white, graphite on top and paris grey. You can see in the before wax pics yesterday, the wax really can change and accent the colors. Now I know A S has her own wax and I have heard its to die for, but I do not have access to a local distributor and I really love the ease of Johnson paste wax. It stinks to high heaven...that is the only con I have run into. It is easy to apply, its cheap and requires very little buffing. I just think it depends on the situation and the needs of the furniture.

Disclaimer:  I am no expert...i am simply trying out different products to see what works best for me!!
in all her glory...
close up of the colors after i applied the wax..i used Johnson paste wax with a little walnut stain mixed in it.
this is the color before the wax...so you can see its subtle..but makes a difference.

I love a good party.......

new credenza

I found this huge credenza from my re-store a couple weeks ago. I had been eyeing it for weeks and when the price finally dropper to a price i couldn't refused, I snatched her up!

sorry my camera was on the fritz...but you can tell she is 70"s glam at her best..

so here she is after paris grey and old white .. i also used graphite on top..all as chalk paint.

I will be using dark wax on her today and finishing my fall setup on her tonight.
I have not started any pumpkins this week couldn't find the right velvet and wool I was looking for. Thats the problem with diy sooo many projects sooo little time.

tuesday is find day!

I love to share all my interesting finds with you on Tuesdays.  sometimes it just materials...wood,fabric ,old metal pieces and sometimes furniture and vintage pieces. This week I have been on a mission to find things to complete the credenza piece I finished for the living room. I love old round frames and I adore silhouettes,  my husband does not feel the same way. So I am going to try to create some fun black and white shots of the kiddos.

I got these ate my goodwill 3 bucks

I bought 3 of these for a $1 each

I got these at my local consignment for 5 dollars for both..

Here is a sneak peak at the old credenza piece I just finished will give you full beauty shots of her on thursday!!

craving a little fall...

I have been drooling over some fun fall projects that i have been seeing online lately. One of my favorites is the velvet pumpkins...
I love this look because i can keep up the pumpkins till dec...I have found a couple tutorials out their so I plan on trying these this week and i will keep you posted on how it goes.

I also like the idea of just doing one area in a spooky Halloween theme instead of the whole house. I love Halloween and tend to go over board everywhere. I am going to keep it focused to one area and let the rest of the house stay fall .

so here are my wants for fall decorating:
homemade pumpkins(velvet or argyle)
crows
lots of white mini pumpkins
acorns (gold glittered or yarn wrapped)
more cloches....i always want more cloches..
I am also going to make some signs using a bunch of old cabinet doors i have.....let the crafting begin!!

Did i mention its 114 here in az today!!!

the key to my heart

This is a cherry wood piece that was actually flawless...perfect in every way.  I just didn't care for her super glossy shiny wood. I wanted to try something different a little outside the box and she was a great little piece for it.  she's well made and sturdy but not really an antique. Perfect piece to have a little fun with.
so here she is..... Paris grey on the body and old white on top...then for some fun scripted edges!!

see I let a little of that cherry come through.

cute little legs.

all the graphics came from the graphic fairy...here.

here are her before shots......

My favorite shot....look at g's sweet little chubby hands....how I love those little baby hands.  Those sweet little fingers are helping me wipe down the dust from the distressing.

love when the hubby is on the same page!!

I have been married to Mr. LOve letters for 12 fun years.  We were just a couple of kids when we meet.  I was in beauty school and he was working at a industrial bolt supplier.  We have had such a blessed life, taking a ton of chances on different business thru the years. WE manage to always have each others back. That is what I think makes it work.
he never gets to fish just untangle E and G's line....

Thank you for always being up for an adventure, for being a gypsy at heart, but keeping your feet grounded for E and G. Thank you for your support of me working 50 hours a week or 10, for not being afraid to tell me when I am out of line and knowing when to zip it. For the laughs the crys and most of all my E and G.

Im looking forward to a new adventure with you......bring it!!!
Happy birthday my love!!!!
